Job summary

Corewell Health Wayne Hospital is seeking a Special Procedure Tech to support patients undergoing heart and vascular procedures. You will assist physicians, prep patients, monitor hemodynamics, and manage equipment and vascular access with a focus on patient and family education.

The role requires ARRT/Radiographer and various cardiovascular certifications, with on-site day shifts and a 40-hour work week. Sign-on bonus up to $7,000 is available for external hires and new grads in student roles.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in cardiovascular technology or basic sciences required.
• Completion of an accredited radiography program (JRCERT) required for Interventional Radiology.
• Graduate of Cardiovascular Technologist program for Cath Lab/EP Lab.
• Clinical experience through graduation from listed programs is required.
• 1 year of EP, Cath Lab or IR experience required.
• ARRT Radiographer (R) certification required on hire; RCIS/RCES certifications may be required.
• ACLS and BLS certifications required on hire or as specified.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care pre, intra, and post for patients undergoing Heart and/or Vascular procedures.
• Assist physicians and deliver patient/family centered care throughout procedures.
• Perform IV starts and prep patients as needed.
• Monitor hemodynamics and operate related equipment.
• Document procedures and manage vascular access sites.
• Educate patients and families about procedures and care.

Corewell Health Wayne Hospital opened its doors to western Wayne communities in 1957. This full-service hospital is the only hospital in the Wayne, Westland, Garden City, Canton, Inkster and Romulus area verified by the American College of Surgeons as a Level III Trauma Center. The hospital has a longstanding partnership with Detroit Metropolitan Airport and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to handle a wide variety of health and communicable disease concerns including mass trauma and emergency patients.

Scope of work

Under general supervision, the Special Procedure Tech provides direct care pre, intra, and post for patients undergoing Heart and/or Vascular procedures to assist physicians and delivers quality patient/family centered care. The incumbent may be required to perform IV starts, prep patients, monitor hemodynamics, operate equipment, document procedures, vascular access site management, and provide patient/family education.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in cardiovascular technology/basic science, Paramedic license, Exercise Physiologist, or equivalent training and/or education required.
• Interventional Radiology requires completion of an accredited radiography program (JRCERT).
• Cath Lab/EP Lab requires employee to be a graduate of Cardiovascular Technologist program.
• Clinical experience required through graduation of one of the above listed programs.
• 1 year of experience in EP, Cath Lab or IR is required.
• CRT-Radiographer (R)-ARRT American Registry of Radiological Technologist IR Upon Hire Required.
• CRT-Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) ARRT-American Registry of Radiological Technologist IR 1 Yrs Upon hire Required Or
• CRT-Cardio Vascular Imaging (CI) ARRT-American Registry of Radiological Technologist IR 1 Yrs Upon Hired Required.
• CRT-Radiographer (R)-ARRT American Registry of Radiological Technologist Cath Lab & EP Lab Upon Hire Required Or
• CRT-Reg Card Inter Specialist (RCIS)-CCI Int’L-Cardiovascular Credentialing International Cath Labe & EP Lab Upon Hire Required Or
• CRT-Reg Card Elect Specialist (RCES)-CCI Int’l-Cardiovascular Credentialing International Cath Lab & EP Lab Upon Hire Required.
• CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)-AHA-American Heart Association Cath Lab & EP Lab 180 days Required.
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hired Required Or
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) American Red Cross Upon Hire Required.
