Job summary

Goodwill of Central Iowa is seeking an Employment Specialist on the Behavioral Health Team to help participants find and maintain competitive employment. The role combines vocational assessment, job development, and service planning within IPS practices, collaborating with behavioral health partners.

On-site and office-based work support is required. You will build employer partnerships, coach job seekers in resumes and applications, and ensure goal-oriented progress while aligning with program

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in human services, business, education, marketing, or related field from an accredited college.
• Two years' experience working with people with severe mental illness and/or history of substance abuse and experience providing employment and job placement services is preferred.
• Experience partnering and/or referring agencies such as behavioral health agencies, IVRS, MCOs, DHS, and other local/state resources.
• Must be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.
• Must be able to perform basic math.
• Access to reliable transportation for regular participation in work.
• Possession of valid Iowa Driver's License and adequate auto insurance coverage.
• Must be able to pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Supports participants enrolled in IPS Services.
• Manages a caseload of program participants as determined by supervisor.
• Develops partnerships with community employers and resources.
• Assists participants in building and executing their ISP including employment prep, job development, and retention.
• Works with participants to complete resumes, applications, and cover letters.
• Adheres to IPS core principles focusing on competitive employment and rapid job search.
• Performs job development and job search directed toward individualized positions.
• Provides ongoing on-site support and 1-1 coaching after employment is obtained.
• Maintains communication with care teams and mental health providers.
• Facilitates communication with the Vocational Skills Manager and Mental Health Treatment Team.
• Creates documentation to meet funding and program requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
