Job summary

Kikoff is hiring a founding technical accounting leader to own external reporting as we approach an IPO. You will manage SEC filings, GAAP compliance, and finance disclosures while partnering with auditors, Legal, and IR. This pivotal role starts as IC and scales with the company growth.

Based in San Francisco, you will oversee complex engines like warehouse financing, securitizations, and ESG data, building processes for a public company from day one.

Qualifications

• CPA required with deep knowledge of US GAAP and SEC rules
• 8+ years of experience in Big 4 public accounting and in-house SEC reporting or technical accounting
• Experience drafting 10-Ks and 10-Qs, and ideally an S-1 or IPO experience
• Strong research and memo-writing skills, able to defend positions to auditors
• Comfortable as an individual contributor now, with the judgment to scale a team
• Clear communicator who can translate complex conclusions into memos for non-accountants
• Wealth of exposure to ESG reporting (TCFD/SASB) or eagerness to learn
• Experience reporting to counterparties — covenant certificates, borrowing bases, securitization reporting

Responsibilities

• Draft the financial statement sections of registration statements and footnotes
• Build and run quarterly and annual reporting (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, proxy) and close-to-file calendar
• Manage the transition from private to public accounting and related disclosures
• Own technical accounting for stock compensation, EPS, segments, and ASC 350-40/805/842
• Track new accounting standards and SEC rulemaking; start early implementations
• Coordinate with Compliance and Legal for financial data behind state filings and ESG disclosures
• Set up disclosure controls, sub-certification processes, and SOX-related documentation
• Lead hires and scale the accounting function as the company grows
