Job summary

AmLaw 50 IP Firm in a hybrid setup seeks a Patent Agent to join its Intellectual Property - Patents Practice. Bachelor’s in engineering/physics and 2+ years patent experience are required; expertise in AI, ML, data science, and related tech is highly valued.

You will work with inventors and attorneys to craft and prosecute patent applications, perform novelty searches, and help manage a growing portfolio of technologies, with mentorship and a path to advanced practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in EE, CE, CS, or Physics with excellent academic record.
• 2+ years of substantive patent preparation and prosecution experience.
• Experience in data science, ML, AI, wireless, sensors, semiconductors, IoT, optics is advantageous.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong analytical and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications in emerging technology areas
• Identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors
• Perform novelty and clearance searches to delineate inventions from existing technologies
• Draft comprehensive patent applications and negotiate the scope of patent rights with the USPTO
• Prepare reports and support documentation for patent portfolio management

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree orhigher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics with an excellent academic record
• 2+ years of substantive experience in patent preparation and prosecution
• Experience in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, wireless communications, sensors, semiconductors, Internet of Things,optics, or related fields is highly advantageous
• Working proficiency in Microsoft Office software
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and writing skills, with an exceptional attention to technical detail and effective organizational and communication skills
