IP Law Firm (AmLaw 50) is seeking a Patent Agent to join their Intellectual Property - Patents Practice in a hybrid role. The position targets candidates with a strong background in electrical/computer engineering and a track record in patent preparation and prosecution across emerging technologies.

The role emphasizes collaboration with inventors and attorneys, enabling exposure to patent drafting, prosecution strategy, and portfolio management within a leading IP practice.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of substantive experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
• Experience in data science, machine learning, AI, wireless communications, sensors/semiconductors, IoT, optics or related fields is highly advantageous.
• Working proficiency in Microsoft Office software.

Responsibilities

• Work with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications in emerging technology areas.
• Identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors.
• Perform novelty and clearance searches to delineate inventions from existing technologies.
• Draft comprehensive patent applications and negotiate the scope of patent rights with the USPTO.
• Prepare reports and support documentation for patent portfolio management.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree orhigher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics with an excellent academic record
• 2+ years of substantive experience in patent preparation and prosecution
• Experience in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, wireless communications, sensors, semiconductors, Internet of Things,optics, or related fields is highly advantageous
• Working proficiency in Microsoft Office software
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and writing skills, with an exceptional attention to technical detail and effective organizational and communication skills

Key Responsibilities
