Job summary

A prominent international AmLaw 50 law firm is seeking a talented Patent Agent to join their Intellectual Property - Patents Practice. Hybrid work and multiple office locations are available, including NY.

Candidate profile includes 2+ years in patent preparation and prosecution; strong background in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Physics; experience with data science, ML, AI, wireless tech, sensors, semiconductors, IoT, or optics is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in EE/CE/CS/Physics with an excellent academic record.
• 2+ years of patent preparation and prosecution experience.
• Experience in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, wireless communications, sensors, semiconductors, IoT, optics or related fields is advantageous.
• Working proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and writing skills with attention to technical detail.

Responsibilities

• Work with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications in emerging technology areas.
• Identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors.
• Perform novelty and clearance searches to delineate inventions from existing technologies.
• Draft comprehensive patent applications and negotiate the scope of patent rights with the USPTO.
• Prepare reports and support documentation for patent portfolio management.
