Job summary

AmLaw 50 IP law firm is seeking a Patent Agent to join their Intellectual Property - Patents Practice. Open to multiple locations with a HYBRID work model.

Candidates should have a STEM bachelor's degree and 2+ years in patent preparation and prosecution, with strong analytical and communication skills. The role involves drafting and prosecuting patent applications, performing novelty searches, and collaborating with inventors and attorneys across emerging technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics with excellent academic record.
• 2+ years of substantive experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
• Experience in data science, ML, AI, wireless communications, sensors, semiconductors, IoT, optics or related fields is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Work with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications in emerging technology areas.
• Identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors.
• Perform novelty and clearance searches to delineate inventions from existing technologies.
• Draft comprehensive patent applications and negotiate the scope of patent rights with the USPTO.
• Prepare reports and support documentation for patent portfolio management.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree orhigher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics with an excellent academic record
• 2+ years of substantive experience in patent preparation and prosecution
• Experience in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, wireless communications, sensors, semiconductors, Internet of Things,optics, or related fields is highly advantageous
• Working proficiency in Microsoft Office software
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and writing skills, with an exceptional attention to technical detail and effective organizational and communication skills

Key Responsibilities
