6 Degrees Search is seeking a Patent Agent to join our Intellectual Property - Patents Practice in a hybrid role. Ideal candidates hold a technical degree and have 2+ years in patent drafting and filing, with knowledge across data science, ML/AI, and emerging tech sectors.

You will collaborate with inventors and attorneys to build robust patent portfolios and protect innovative inventions. Strong analytical writing and communication skills are essential, as is proficiency with Microsoft Office

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with excellent academics.
• 2+ years of substantive patent prep and prosecution experience.
• Experience in data science, ML, AI, wireless, sensors, semiconductors, IoT or optics is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong analytical and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications in emerging tech.
• Identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors.
• Perform novelty and clearance searches.
• Draft patent applications and negotiate scope of rights with the USPTO.
• Prepare reports and documentation for patent portfolio management.

A prominent internationalAmLaw 50law firmis seeking a talented Patent Agentto jointheir Intellectual Property (IP) - Patents Practice.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree orhigher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics with an excellent academic record
• 2+ years of substantive experience in patent preparation and prosecution
• Experience in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, wireless communications, sensors, semiconductors, Internet of Things,optics, or related fields is highly advantageous
• Working proficiency in Microsoft Office software
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and writing skills, with an exceptional attention to technical detail and effective organizational and communication skills

Key Responsibilities

• Work with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications in emerging technology areas
• Identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors
• Perform novelty and clearance searches to delineate inventions from existing technologies
• Draft comprehensive patent applications and negotiate the scope of patent rights with the USPTO
• Prepare reports and support documentation for patent portfolio management
