Job summary

AmLaw 50 IP Firm is seeking a talented Patent Agent to join their Intellectual Property – Patents Practice. Hybrid work flexibility and locations across major U.S. cities are available.

Candidates should have a strong background in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics and 2+ years in patent preparation and prosecution. Ideal candidates will have experience in data science, ML, AI, and related tech areas, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics with excellent academic record.
• 2+ years of substantive experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
• Experience in data science, machine learning, AI, wireless communications, sensors, semiconductors, IoT, optics or related fields is advantageous.
• Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills with attention to technical detail.

Responsibilities

• Work with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications in emerging technology areas.
• Identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors.
• Perform novelty and clearance searches to delineate inventions from existing technologies.
• Draft comprehensive patent applications and negotiate the scope of patent rights with the USPTO.
• Prepare reports and support documentation for patent portfolio management.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree orhigher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics with an excellent academic record
• 2+ years of substantive experience in patent preparation and prosecution
• Experience in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, wireless communications, sensors, semiconductors, Internet of Things,optics, or related fields is highly advantageous
• Working proficiency in Microsoft Office software
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and writing skills, with an exceptional attention to technical detail and effective organizational and communication skills
