Job summary

Joseph Michaels International is seeking a Patent Agent for a leading AmLaw 50 IP practice with hybrid work options in New York.

The role focuses on drafting and prosecuting patent applications in emerging technology areas, collaborating with inventors and attorneys. A strong technical background in EE/CS/Physics and 2+ years in patent prosecution are required. Excellent writing and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with excellent academic record in EE/CE/CS/Physics.
• 2+ years of patent preparation and prosecution experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and writing skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.

Responsibilities

• Work with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications in emerging technology areas.
• Identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors.
• Perform novelty and clearance searches to delineate inventions from existing technologies.
• Draft comprehensive patent applications and negotiate the scope of patent rights with the USPTO.
• Prepare reports and support documentation for patent portfolio management.

A prominent internationalAmLaw 50law firmis seeking a talented Patent Agentto jointheir Intellectual Property (IP) - Patents Practice.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree orhigher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics with an excellent academic record
• 2+ years of substantive experience in patent preparation and prosecution
• Experience in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, wireless communications, sensors, semiconductors, Internet of Things,optics, or related fields is highly advantageous
• Working proficiency in Microsoft Office software
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and writing skills, with an exceptional attention to technical detail and effective organizational and communication skills

Key Responsibilities
