An AmLaw 50 law firm is seeking a Patent Agent to join its Intellectual Property - Patents Practice. This Hybrid role supports inventors and attorneys in drafting and prosecuting patent applications across emerging technologies.

Ideal candidates hold a technical degree and 2+ years of patent experience, with strong writing and analysis skills. Location flexibility includes multiple U.S. offices, including New York.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Eng., Computer Eng., CS or Physics with excellent academics.
• 2+ years of patent preparation and prosecution experience.
• Experience in data science, ML, AI, wireless comms, sensors, semiconductors, IoT or optics is advantageous.
• Working proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal and writing skills with attention to technical detail.

Responsibilities

• Work with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications in emerging tech areas.
• Identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors.
• Perform novelty and clearance searches to delineate inventions from existing tech.
• Draft comprehensive patent applications and negotiate the scope of patent rights with the USPTO.
• Prepare reports and support documentation for patent portfolio management.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree orhigher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics with an excellent academic record
• 2+ years of substantive experience in patent preparation and prosecution
• Experience in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, wireless communications, sensors, semiconductors, Internet of Things,optics, or related fields is highly advantageous
• Working proficiency in Microsoft Office software
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and writing skills, with an exceptional attention to technical detail and effective organizational and communication skills

Key Responsibilities

• Work with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications in emerging technology areas
