Job summary

G&W Electric Co. is seeking an Intellectual Property Administrator to manage patents, trademarks, and related IP assets.

You will organize filings, maintain records, coordinate with external patent counsel, and ensure timely prosecution and renewals. The ideal candidate has at least five years of domestic patent prosecution experience, a Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate, and strong MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of domestic patent prosecution experience in a law firm or engineering design environment.
• Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate preferred; Associate’s degree required.
• Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel; strong computer and database skills.
• Technology literacy and willingness to learn about innovative technologies.
• Preferably familiarity with viewing engineering drawings and 3D CAD models.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support to engineering and process departments for IP matters focusing on patents.
• Own invention disclosure processing and support to patent counsel.
• Oversee IP rights application and registration, including renewals.
• Assist engineers with invention disclosures and liaise with outside patent attorneys.
• Coordinate invention review meetings with internal and external parties.
• Maintain electronic IP data and ensure compliance with company protocols.
• Collaborate with outside patent attorneys to file and prosecute patent applications.
• Review official communications and track docket dates for prosecution and deadlines.
• Assist with IP recognition processes and events.
• Improve IP workflows and generate timely reports.
