Job summary

Ice Miller is seeking an IP Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day IP staff operations, improve workflows, and implement practice-wide procedures. The role partners with attorneys, patent agents, and staff to ensure timely, high-quality output across multiple offices.

The position emphasizes supervising the IP support team, maintaining central repositories, and integrating policy updates into training materials. A Bachelor’s degree and IP-related experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum 5 years of IP administration or patent/prosecution experience.
• Strong understanding of U.S. patent and trademark rules and procedures.
• Experience supervising or managing a team of IP support staff.

Responsibilities

• Develop, document, and implement IP best practices for file management, docketing, and deadlines.
• Lead IP staff to deliver high-quality work and optimize resource use.
• Coordinate with IP practitioners to align workflows with firm needs.
• Maintain training materials, checklists, and reporting templates.
• Oversee updates to USPTO accounts and communicate system changes to the team.
• Mentor and coach IP staff across sites; lead monthly IP staff meetings.
