Job summary

Ice Miller LLP in Chicago, IL seeks an IP Operations Manager to oversee the IP support function and optimize firmwide IP practice operations.

The role partners with attorneys, patent agents, and IP staff to implement procedures that improve efficiency, accuracy, and service delivery across offices.

Candidates should have at least 5 years of IP admin or prosecution experience, strong knowledge of docketing and PTO systems, and proven team leadership abilities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience handling complex patent and/or IP administrative duties related to filings, workflow, docketing, etc.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate development and implementation of best practices for IP prosecution including file management, docketing, deadlines, billing, and client communication.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of IP staff and ensure timely, high-quality work across offices.
• Mentor and coach IP support team members; manage workflows to balance workload and meet deadlines.
• Partner with IP attorneys, patent agents, and staff to understand needs and improve processes.
• Maintain central repositories and training materials; manage reporting letters and filing checklists.
