Job summary

Watts & Associates is recruiting for an IP Litigation Associate to join its Washington, DC / Los Angeles, CA / San Francisco, CA platform. The role offers sophisticated high‑value patent, technology and trade‑secret disputes for major technology, life‑sciences and corporate clients, with ownership of substantive workstreams and exposure to senior partners.

Qualifications

• Approximately 3–5 years of substantive IP and patent litigation experience.
• Experience handling high‑value patent, technology and trade‑secret disputes for sophisticated clients.
• Strong drafting, analytical, organizational and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams, meet deadlines and communicate effectively.
• Strong academic credentials and experience in a sophisticated law‑firm environment.
• A technical background in electrical engineering, computer science, software or a related field is strongly preferred.
• Admission in the relevant office jurisdiction, or eligibility to waive in promptly, is required.

Responsibilities

• Support complex patent, trade-secret and technology disputes in federal courts and specialist forums.
• Draft substantive motions, briefs, discovery materials and expert-related submissions.
• Manage fact and expert discovery, depositions, technical records and key case workstreams.
• Contribute to trial, hearing and appellate strategy and work closely with clients, experts and experienced litigators.
