Job summary

Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP is seeking an IP Docketing Supervisor to lead the docketing team, ensure accuracy and timeliness, and drive process improvements. This hands-on leadership role requires deep IP prosecution docketing expertise and strong people management skills.

You will oversee staff, hire and train new members, manage policies, and monitor metrics. The role is hybrid with in-office days and a competitive benefits package including healthcare and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive IP prosecution docketing experience, including experience supervising a docketing team, preferably in a law firm environment.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-directed, self-motivated, with strong organizational/time management, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage docketing staff by assigning work, monitoring workload, setting team priorities, and supporting training and development.
• Recruit, onboard, and train new team members; approve timecards and leave requests; coordinate backup coverage; conduct performance reviews.
• Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and consistency of all docketing activities for attorneys, business professionals, and clients.
• Own and maintain written docketing policies; monitor changes in US/foreign IP rules; recommend updates.
• Generate, review, and interpret docketing metrics; identify trends and present findings to leadership.
• Design and lead periodic audits of docketing data and processes; drive corrective action.
• Coordinate and deliver docketing system onboarding/training for attorneys and staff.
• Prepare and oversee client-facing reports; coordinate with attorneys.
• Support ongoing docketing system migration, including data integrity review and training.
• Manage intake/transfer of IP portfolios; ensure timely, accurate docketing of matters.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all firm and client information.
