Job summary

Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP seeks an IP Docketing Supervisor to lead the docketing team, ensure accuracy and timeliness of patent and trademark docketing, and drive process improvements across the firm. The role combines hands-on leadership with strategic oversight.

You will recruit, onboard, train, and evaluate staff, manage metrics, and coordinate system migration while maintaining strict confidentiality of client information. The position is hybrid with in-office days in Chicago.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of IP prosecution docketing experience, including supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with professionalism.
• Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. and foreign patent/trademark prosecution.
• Proficiency with IP docketing systems (CPI, PATTSY, Anaqua or similar).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Demonstrated leadership for high-performing teams.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage docketing staff, assign work and monitor workload.
• Recruit, onboard, train, and coordinate backup coverage; conduct reviews.
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of docketing for attorneys and clients.
• Maintain docketing policies; monitor rule changes.
• Generate and interpret docketing metrics; report to leadership.
• Design audits of docketing data and processes; drive improvements.
• Coordinate docketing system onboarding and training.
• Prepare client facing reports in coordination with attorneys.
• Support docketing system migration and data integrity.
• Manage intake and transfer of IP portfolios; ensure timely docketing.
• Maintain confidentiality of firm and client information.
