Job summary

The Iowa Wolves are seeking Ball Crew/Bench Attendants to join our fast-paced, game-day environment in Des Moines, IA. You will assist the basketball operations staff before, during, and after games with a variety of duties on the court and in the locker room.

This paid position runs mid-October through mid-April, requires at least 16 years old, and pays $16.00 per hour. It offers game-day meals, parking, and the chance to work closely with coaching and training staff during Iowa Wolves home

Responsibilities

• MUST be able to work a minimum of 18 of the team’s 24 regular season home games.
• Available to work 5+ hours per home game, arriving 2.5 hours before tip-off and departing roughly 30 minutes after the conclusion of the game OR once all assigned duties have been completed.
• Assist training and basketball staff in preparing for all game-day needs and equipment.
• Rebound for players during warm-ups and provide additional assistance as requested by coaching or training staff.
• Mop court during game play and assist during timeouts with towels and water or Gatorade.
• Maintain inventory of required courtside items and anticipate additional needs.
• Support staff with clean-up and storage duties after each game.
• Assist with team laundry during and after games.
• Other duties as assigned during each game.

Position Summary/Objective

The Iowa Wolves are seeking Ball Crew/Bench Attendants to join our fast-paced environment on game days and nights to ensure all team needs are met. Individuals in this position will be responsible for assisting the basketball operations department (home team and visiting team coaching and training staffs) pre-game, during the game and post-game with a variety of duties on the court and in the locker room.

Position duration is mid-October through mid-April each season. Must be a minimum age of 16 to participate as a paid staff member. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background check.

Game uniform, game day meal and complimentary parking are provided. Reliable transportation and consistent attendance are required.

Essential Functions

• MUST be able to work a minimum of 18 of the team’s 24 regular season home games to be considered, preferably all home games.
• Available to work 5+ hours per home game, arriving 2.5 hours before tip-off and departing roughly 30 minutes after the conclusion of the game OR once all assigned duties have been completed
  • Monday-Thursday – 6:30pm tip off – expected arrival 4:00pm
  • Friday-Saturday – 7:00pm tip off – expected arrival 4:30pm
  • Sunday games – 3pm tip off – expected arrival 12:30pm
  • Additional game times may vary
• Assist training and basketball staff in preparing for all game-day needs and equipment (including, but not limited to: locker room setup, bench supplies, towels, Gatorade, water, etc.)
• Rebound for players (home and visiting team) during team warm-ups; provide additional assistance in warmups as requested by each team’s coaching or training staff
• Mop court during game play and/or assist during timeouts as needed delivering towels and water or Gatorade to players as needed
• Maintain inventory of required courtside items & anticipate additional needs in advance – Gatorade towels, Gatorade, hot packs, etc.
• Support staff with clean-up and storage duties at conclusion of each game, including the clean-up and storage of all home team, visiting team and game officials locker room equipment & supplies.
• Assist with team laundry during and after games.
• Other duties as assigned during each game

Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour

Work Environment

This job operates during Iowa Wolves home games. Work is both sedentary and active in nature. The position operates out of a sports arena. The working environment is generally favorable; however, the noise level is loud during events. During events work is generally performed on the main court, in locker rooms and laundry facilities. Must be comfortable working in large crowds and/or enclosed spaces. May be exposed to outside elements. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
