Job summary

Silicon Labs in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced RF Validation Engineer II to join our IoT validation team. You will work on RF/PHY-MAC design validation across Zigbee, BLE, Wi-SUN, and related wireless IPs, from pre-silicon to silicon bring-up.

You will perform measurements with RF lab instruments, develop test benches, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize performance and time-to-market for low-power wireless SoCs.

Qualifications

• BSEE/MSEE and 1-3 industry experience in mixed signal SoCs with RF signal chain
• Experience using Python or other high-level modeling language/tool for designing and evaluating communication systems and algorithms
• Strong grasp of analog signal fundamentals, basic circuit components, and specifications
• Experience with RF signal chains including LNAs, mixers, PAs, A/D and D/A
• Experience with digital modulation formats (MSK/FSK, OQPSK, OOK/ASK, etc)
• Proficiency taking measurements with standard RF lab instruments (signal generator, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, scope, DMM, SMU)
• Knowledge of common wireless communications standards and protocols such as Bluetooth low-energy, 802.15.4, 802.11 WiFi
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Demonstrated ability to generate high output in a self-driven manner
• Basic DSP knowledge (up/down sampling, FIR filtering)
• Experience in revision control and configuration management systems

Responsibilities

• Develop initial Zigbee, BLE, Wi-SUN, ZWave, MBus PHY configs for Silicon Labs RF SoCs
• Perform pre-silicon testing using test benches and FPGA emulation
• Bring-up and validate new Silicon Labs IP on silicon, supporting cross-functional teams
• Measure RX sensitivity, frequency/baudrate/deviation tolerance, blocking, TX power, etc.
• Support multiple teams with RFIC performance insights via data analysis, presentations, and training
• Guide SW team on RF software implementations for scalable test infrastructure and tools
