Operations Analyst - Investment Operations & Data
Overview:
My client is a tier 1 private equity firm and they are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Operations Analyst to join a growing investment platform in Fort Worth. This is a broad role sitting at the intersection of Investment Operations, financial data, cash management, and technology.
The successful candidate will take ownership of critical operational processes while also looking for ways to make them more efficient, scalable, and automated. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys understanding how systems and processes work, is comfortable working with financial data, and can partner effectively with technology and engineering teams to improve the operating environment.
The role will have particular exposure to reference data management, cash and liquidity operations, banking infrastructure, and general operational process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain critical reference and static data, including fund, bank, account, and related investment information across internal systems and downstream applications.
- Support daily cash and liquidity operations, including short-term cash investment processes, reconciliations, and resolution of operational breaks.
- Own and enhance automated end-of-day cash investment workflows, ensuring processes are accurate, controlled, and scalable.
- Support the monthly and quarterly general ledger close, including account administration, reconciliations, and coordination with relevant stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to streamline manual processes and develop automation and workflow improvements across the Operations function.
- Partner with Engineering and technology teams to translate operational requirements into effective system and data solutions.
- Analyze operational and transactional data to identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain appropriate operational controls and documentation to support a strong risk and control environment.
- Assist with bank and custody account administration, statements, reconciliations, and related audit requirements.
- Work with external service providers and financial counterparties as needed to resolve operational issues and ensure accurate and timely processing.
- Support broader Operations projects and initiatives, particularly those involving systems, data integrity, automation, and process optimization.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in Investment Operations, Fund Accounting, Treasury, Financial Data, or a related financial services environment.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Science, or a related discipline preferred.
- Strong understanding of investment operations, fund structures, cash management, and/or financial data.
- Advanced Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables, data analysis, and ideally VBA/macros.
- Experience with one or more data, automation, or visualization tools such as SQL, Python, Power BI, Alteryx, or VBA.
- Experience working with general ledger or fund accounting systems; Advent Geneva experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with Bloomberg or other investment/financial data platforms is beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to understand the underlying cause of operational issues rather than simply resolving individual exceptions.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with Operations, Accounting, Technology, Engineering, and external service providers.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Ideal Profile
The ideal candidate is someone who combines strong Investment Operations fundamentals with a genuine interest in technology and process improvement. You don't need to be a software engineer, but you should be comfortable working with data, understanding systems, and partnering with technical teams to find better ways of doing things.
This role would suit someone who is naturally curious, asks "why are we doing it this way?", and enjoys turning manual or inefficient processes into more reliable and scalable solutions.
