Job summary

Santa Clara University seeks an Accounting Manager, Investment and Financial Reporting to lead the Investment Accounting team, prepare monthly journal entries, initiate capital calls, and draft investment footnotes for the financial statements.

You will supervise staff, coordinate tax reporting and Form 990 filings, manage endowment reporting, and support the Assistant Controller and Controller in annual financials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 8–10 years of relevant finance/accounting experience.
• Note: 6 years of experience acceptable if 1+ year in a managerial capacity.
• Preferred advanced degree in accounting/finance or related CPA/public accounting background.

Responsibilities

• Investment Accounting & Management: Train and manage accountants; reconcile monthly investment accounts; prepare footnotes.
• Gift Accounting: Oversee gift revenue cycles, pledges, and related reserves; coordinate with Development Office.
• Income Tax Return Coordination: Prepare Form 990/990-T; review K-1s; ensure compliance.
• Other Taxation: Develop tax procedures; monitor sales/use tax and bond project reporting.
• Endowment Accounting & Reporting: Use subledger to unitize endowment pool; compute spendable allocations.
• Senior Finance Representative: Provide Workday training; liaise with Finance Office; monitor fund balances.
• Preparation of University Financials: Allocate expenses; analyze restricted funds; assist audit schedules.
• Other Duties: Produce management reports; supervise staff; drive process improvements.
