Job summary

The University of Richmond seeks an Accounting Manager to oversee the daily operations of the Accounting Office and provide direct oversight of investment and endowment accounting, as well as coordinating 990/990T/4720 tax filings and the annual audit of the university’s consolidated financial statements.

This position supports design and implementation of continued process modernization and improvements, mentors accounting staff, and ensures accurate GAAP reporting across departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• 5-7 years of experience in higher education, public accounting, or not-for-profit accounting.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise Accounting Analyst(s).
• Manage the day-to-day activities of the Accounting Office.
• Mentor and develop accounting office staff.
• Assume responsibility for the Accounting Office in the absence of the Director.
• Lead preparation of the university’s annual financial statements and external reports.
• Coordinate with external tax accountants for the 990/990T/4720 filings.
