The Hartford in Hartford, CT seeks a Sr Accountant to analyze investment results, perform monthly reconciliations, and prepare statutory disclosures. The role covers GAAP and statutory reporting, NAIC filings, and management reporting with a focus on automation and controls.

Hybrid work arrangement, in-office 3 days a week (Tue-Thu) in Hartford. Requires 2+ years in accounting/reporting and a CPA with Big Four a plus.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related field required.
• CPA certification is a plus.
• Big Four experience is a plus.
• 2+ years of accounting, reporting or finance experience.
• Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint required, TM1, Wdesk, Sovos, and Microsoft Copilot.

Responsabilidades

• Assist in monthly close of investment results, including reconciliations between accounting platforms.
• Preparation and analysis of investment sections of statutory statements, disclosures, and supplements.
• Monitoring NAIC designations to ensure STAT reports comply with NAIC requirements.
• Gather documents for NAIC filings and submit filings on time.
• Participate in NAIC and stakeholder discussions around exposure drafts.
• Understand GAAP and statutory guidance for new accounting standards and investment strategies.
• Prepare analytics for senior management explaining drivers of asset movements.
• Support Sarbanes documentation and monitor internal controls.
• Drive automation improvements and projects, including variance analysis using AI and internal apps.
• Create internal monthly and quarterly management reporting tools and metrics.
