Job summary

Axonic Insurance is seeking an Investment Accountant to support the accounting, reporting, and reconciliation of AXI’s investment portfolio. This role will be responsible for ensuring investment activity is accurately recorded and reconciled across accounting records, custodians, investment managers, Clearwater, and the general ledger.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably involving investments, insurance, or financial services.
• Understanding of investment accounting concepts and financial instruments.
• Strong reconciliation experience, including researching and resolving reconciling items and accounting discrepancies.
• Experience with statutory accounting and GAAP preferred.
• Experience with Clearwater Analytics or a similar investment accounting and reporting platform strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work effectively across Finance, Investments, and external service providers.

Responsibilities

• Perform accounting and reconciliation activities related to AXI’s investment portfolio.
• Record and review investment transactions, income, realized and unrealized gains and losses, and other investment activity.
• Prepare and resolve daily, monthly, and quarterly reconciliation differences between investment accounting records, custodians, investment managers, Clearwater, and the general ledger.
• Research and resolve investment accounting discrepancies and exceptions in a timely manner.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes related to investments.
• Assist with statutory and GAAP investment accounting and financial reporting.
• Prepare investment-related schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for internal and external reporting.
• Support accounting for new investment types and transactions as the portfolio evolves.
• Coordinate with AXI’s Investments team, external investment managers, custodians, auditors, and other partners.
• Support audit, regulatory, and financial reporting requests related to investments.
• Identify opportunities to improve controls, processes, and efficiencies within investment accounting.
