Job summary

A tech-driven insurance company is seeking a Senior Investment Accountant to provide accounting and financial reporting support for its investment portfolio. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of relevant finance experience, strong analytical skills, and proficiency in advanced Excel. This role requires effective communication and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced environment, with a hybrid work model requiring onsite presence three days a week in Durham, NC.

What We Are Looking For

The Senior Investment Accountant will support the business by providing accounting and financial reporting support for the company’s investment portfolio. We are seeking a driven, self-starter with a solid understanding of the financial services industry. Communication skills are highly important, as well as the ability to problem-solve and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role reports to the Director of Investment Reporting, and is a hybrid working opportunity, required to be onsite 3 days a week at our Durham, NC headquarters.

What You Will Do

• Maintain our portfolio in the investment reporting system (Clearwater) to accurately account for the company’s investments
• Reconcile Clearwater against bank custodian records and Ares investment systems each month and direct any necessary adjustments to correct issues
• Support the completion of investment schedules for financial reporting and analysis
• Perform reporting for mortgage loans and assess income results for accuracy
• Onboard new asset classes and new portfolios as needed
