The Legal Aid Society is seeking an Investigator Supervisor for the HDTF and Specialized Units across New York City. The role supports leadership, develops training, and oversees investigative staff with a focus on defense effectiveness and ethical practice.

Candidates should bring strong leadership, mentoring, and investigative expertise, as well as a willingness to travel throughout NYC and work flexible hours to support the defense team.

Qualifikationen

• A bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of criminal defense investigative work or 7 years of post-secondary education and investigative work.
• Ability to set standard operating procedures, best practices and other processes that enrich client service and staff development.
• Demonstrated experience in training on investigative services, including mentoring.
• Ability to work in and value a collaborative team representation model.
• Commitment to working collegially and constructively with managers and staff.
• Aptitude for motivating, training, and managing investigative staff and others.
• Experience advocating for people of color, low-income and non-citizens.
• Knowledge of New York City and ability to travel around NYC.
• May be required to work after 5pm and on weekends.
• A valid driver’s license in NY (tri-state region) and access to a vehicle for daily field work.

Aufgaben

• Support the Director of Investigative Staff in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding and training of new staff and interns.
• Develop training curriculums and materials for all investigative staff, interns and attorneys.
• Staff trial offices and specialized units in delivering investigative services for the defense team.
• Collaborate with leadership to troubleshoot issues in investigative cases and personnel.
• Monitor adherence to best practices and ethical rules while evaluating caseloads.
• Organize work, set priorities, coordinate goals with leadership, and monitor outcomes.
• Provide ongoing training and professional development for staff and interns.
• Carry an active caseload and accompany the defense team on field cases as needed.
