Job summary

Dallas County's Office seeks an investigator to support the Assistant District Attorney in investigating moderate to complex cases requiring special skills. The role involves preparing cases for disposition, locating and developing evidence, and assisting in witness coordination.

Responsibilities include interviewing witnesses, managing subpoenas, collecting physical evidence, and training Level I investigators as needed. Standard office environment with street-duty exposure is expected.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma required.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
• Two years peace officer experience or Intermediate Peace Officer Certificate from TCLEOSE required.

Responsibilities

• Assists the ADA in gathering data and identifying factors for moderate to complex/specialized cases.
• Locates and develops evidence to assist in plea negotiations.
• Plans and organizes work for trial or disposition processes.
• Reconstructs events, sequences, and time elements for criminal cases.
• Locates, interviews, and notifies witnesses, serves subpoenas, and coordinates transportation for witnesses.
• Collects and prepares physical evidence and reviews forensic reports.
• Assists in jury selection and trial phases.
• Trains Level I investigators or Legal Assistants; leads when multiple investigators are needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
