Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in criminology, criminal justice, social or behavioral science or related field; two years of criminal or legal investigative experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally; establish productive relationships with the public and colleagues.
• Knowledge of investigative techniques, penal codes, welfare and institutional codes, and court procedures.

Aufgaben

• Assists the assigned public defender in gathering data, identifying factors and solutions for moderate to complex cases.
• Locates and develops evidence to assist in plea negotiations.
• Plans and organizes work independently for trial or disposition preparation.
• Assists in reconstructing events and time elements for criminal cases.
• Locates, interviews and notifies witnesses; serves subpoenas and coordinates travel and lodging.
• Collects and prepares physical evidence for trial; reviews medical autopsy and forensic reports.
• Assists attorneys during jury selection and trial phases.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
