Job summary

Office of Executive Inspector General (OEIG) seeks a Staff Attorney to serve as Assistant Inspector General in Chicago. The role involves drafting summary reports for investigations, legal research, and collaboration with investigators, with confidentiality and high ethical standards.

You will work under the Deputy Inspector General and handle subpoenas, interview planning, and legal guidance while ensuring compliance with ethics statutes.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited law school.
• Successful completion of the Uniform Bar Examination or license to practice law in the United States.
• Ability to obtain admittance to the Illinois State Bar within one year of acceptance of an AIG position.

Responsibilities

• Drafts summary reports for investigations and documents for case closure.
• Conducts legal, investigative, labor and disciplinary research and drafts memos.
• Collaborates with investigators and supervisors to develop and reassess investigative plans.
• Assists in interview planning and participation to gather and verify evidence.
• Provides legal guidance and proposes resolution of issues arising during investigations.
• Prepares and reviews subpoenas or document requests as needed.
