Position SummaryInCheck’s Investigations Department provides administrative and analytical support to internal staff and external customers by utilizing in-depth knowledge of the business and online ordering systems. The Investigations Specialist I reports to the Investigations Manager and is ultimately responsible for quality of service, accurate report completion, ensuring efficient turnaround time, and assisting with criminal background check reporting compliance.Job Duties & ResponsibilitiesDevelops and maintains working knowledge of InCheck's services, products, industry regulations, applicable laws, customer requirements, and processing procedures necessary to perform the role effectively.Manages criminal background check report workflow/activity.Assists in analyzing current and future company policies and best practices.Maintains customer service and quality standards at all times.Communicates via phone and email with candidates to ensure timely completion of reports.Communicates with vendors and or court clerks to obtain case information when necessary.Manages day-to-day status of reports, including further investigations and/or all completion efforts related to:Nationwide Municipal Criminal; County Criminal; State Criminal; Federal CriminalInstant Multi-State CriminalSocial Security TraceSex OffenderCaregiver Criminal History and Patient AbuseWarrants and WantsFingerprinting (when applicable)Global Terrorist SearchInternational SearchesVendor HitsOther (as needed)Applies client-specific guidelines accurately to each report.Identifies and researches discrepancies found during the order completion process.Inspects assigned reports for completeness and grammatical correctness.Prepares routine reports and communicates with client upon successful completion of reports (when applicable).May assist in building and maintaining department procedures and training guidelines.Learns, retains and applies PBSA accreditation standards to all tasks.Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities RequiredAbility to clearly and effectively communicate goals, interests and positions- in person and over the phoneMaintain confidentiality and applicant dataAbility to demonstrate a pleasant demeanor on the telephone or in personKnowledge within the background screening industry (familiarity reading court cases, terminology, record filing, etc.)Effective time management skills and close attention to detailAbility to prepare routine, administrative paperworkAbility to frequently operate a computer, keyboard and phoneStrong familiarity with the internet, including internet research experienceKnowledge of customer service standards and proceduresKnowledge of basic Microsoft Office and Outlook softwareTravelNo travel is regularly expected for this position.Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position has no direct report management responsibilities.QualificationsHigh School Diploma and 1-2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience in a Criminal Justice system, legal department, law practice, or related field preferred.CompensationStarting at 18.25/ hour.
