InCheck's Investigations Department provides administrative and analytical support to internal staff and external customers by utilizing in-depth knowledge of the business and online ordering systems. The Investigations Specialist I reports to the Investigations Manager and is ultimately responsible for quality of service, accurate report completion, ensuring efficient turnaround time, and assisting with criminal background check reporting compliance.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains working knowledge of InCheck's services, products, industry regulations, applicable laws, customer requirements, and processing procedures necessary to perform the role effectively.
- Manages criminal background check report workflow/activity.
- Assists in analyzing current and future company policies and best practices.
- Maintains customer service and quality standards at all times.
- Communicates via phone and email with candidates to ensure timely completion of reports.
- Communicates with vendors and or court clerks to obtain case information when necessary.
- Manages day-to-day status of reports, including further investigations and/or all completion efforts related:
- Nationwide Municipal Criminal; County Criminal; State Criminal; Federal Criminal
- Instant Multi-State Criminal
- Social Security Trace
- Sex Offender
- Caregiver Criminal History and Patient Abuse
- Warrants and Wants
- Fingerprinting (when applicable)
- Global Terrorist Search
- International Searches
- Vendor Hits
- Other (as needed)
- Applies client-specific guidelines accurately to each report.
- Identifies and researches discrepancies found during the order completion process.
- Inspects assigned reports for completeness and grammatical correctness.
- Prepares routine reports and communicates with client upon successful completion of reports (when applicable).
- May assist in building and maintaining department procedures and training guidelines.
- Learns, retains and applies PBSA accreditation standards to all tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate goals, interests and positions- in person and over the phone
- Maintain confidentiality and applicant data
- Ability to demonstrate a pleasant demeanor on the telephone or in person
- Knowledge within the background screening industry (familiarity reading court cases, terminology, record filing, etc.)
- Effective time management skills and close attention to detail
- Ability to prepare routine, administrative paperwork
- Ability to frequently operate a computer, keyboard and phone
- Strong familiarity with the internet, including internet research experience
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures
- Knowledge of basic Microsoft Office and Outlook software
Travel
No travel is regularly expected for this position.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct report management responsibilities.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma and 1-2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in a Criminal Justice system, legal department, law practice, or related field preferred.
Compensation
Starting at 18.25/ hour. Candidates with directly relevant background screening industry experience may be considered for a higher starting rate.
