Job summary

Invenergy, headquartered in Chicago, IL, is hiring an Operations Engineer to support the fleet of utility-scale inverters for solar and storage assets. This on-site role in downtown Chicago will require collaboration across teams and leadership in troubleshooting and repairs.

Responsibilities include root-cause analysis, equipment reliability assessments, and developing in-house repair capabilities while interfacing with manufacturers and applying safety standards.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with strong electrical experience.
• 2-4+ years of engineering, systems integration, or technical support experience.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Problem solving and critical thinking.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office tools.
• Ability to independently manage projects and drive initiatives.
• Eligible to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for operational issues of solar and storage inverters.
• Collaborate with cross functional groups to resolve performance issues.
• Identify and resolve reliability and performance issues to maximize inverter performance.
• Lead root cause investigations and analysis.
• Assess damage to inverter components and provide repair dispositions.
• Track inverter damages, repair status, and forecast failures.
• Develop in-house repair and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Interface with equipment manufacturers to resolve issues and develop best practices.
• Develop procedures and technical documentation for safe inverter operation.
• Evaluate electrical drawings and arc flash studies for current and future projects.
• Lead pilot projects to evaluate new equipment or processes.
• Support end-of-warranty inverter inspections.
• Collaborate with performance analytics to develop monitoring strategies.
