Job summary

Invenergy, headquartered in Chicago, seeks a Senior Staff Engineer to support engineering for utility-scale battery storage projects across North America. The role focuses on design, evaluation, and coordination with OEMs and internal teams.

The position is on-site at Invenergy's headquarters in downtown Chicago, IL, with travel up to 20% for site visits and permitting support. Strong ownership of technical layouts and collaboration across groups is essential.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 2+ years of engineering experience, preferably in renewable energy.
• Some travel required up to 20%.
• Eligible to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Interface with battery, inverter, and padmount transformer OEMs for technical information.
• Prepare conceptual project layouts using CAD/QGIS/Visio and optimize layouts for value.
• Conduct site visits to support evaluation, due diligence, and permitting efforts.
• Support Development with federal, state, county, and local permitting efforts.
• Assist with safety and template improvements across the team.
• Manage layout and design of battery arrays and coordinate with vendors.
• Work with Electrical Engineering to support system design and compliance.
• Coordinate with Project Management and Operations through commissioning and transfer.
