Job summary

The City of Charlotte is seeking an Inventory & Warehouse Assistant to support daily warehousing functions, receive shipments, and maintain inventory records. You will work with the Inventory & Warehouse Coordinator and other staff to ensure safe, organized storage and accurate documentation.

This role involves field and warehouse duties across multiple locations. Requires warehouse experience and a valid driver's license; CDL is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
• Warehouse experience (inventory control, warehouse procedures).
• General computer use (including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Teams).
• Valid Driver License.
• Ability to obtain a city driving permit.

Responsibilities

• Complete service requests and work orders in Cityworks and assist field crews with material planning to ensure needed items are available.
• Transport equipment, materials, and supplies to field locations when needed.
• Load and unload materials, supplies, and equipment in preparation for the next workday.
• Record all materials, parts, tools, and equipment issued to staff members and contractors.
• Use Workday to issue requisitions and create purchase orders to order materials as needed.
• Monitor stock levels by comparing physical on-hand inventory to electronic counts.
• Notify staff when inventory reaches critical levels to support uninterrupted flow.
• Maintain records and updates in electronic inventory systems.
• Identify obsolete or damaged material and evaluate for refurbishing.
• Receive incoming deliveries; verify quantities against bills of lading and invoices.
