Job description

UniFirst First Aid + Safety is seeking a reliable and hardworking Inventory Specialist to join our community. As a Inventory Specialist, you will play a key part in managing inventory planning, stockroom operations, and inventory reporting across a dynamic product portfolio of over 250,000 SKUs. The Inventory Specialist will focus on inventory optimization through data analysis, modeling, and system support while ensuring alignment with demand forecasts, stocking strategies, and corporate standards. Additionally, this position will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sourcing, Sales, Finance, and Plant Operations, and support the rollout and maintenance of UniFirst's automated Stockroom Management System (SMS) at field location. When working with UniFirst First Aid + Safety we provide a variety of shifts. Our standard is a 5-day work week, enjoy two days off a week. We have an immediate opening and provide on the job training.

What you’ll be doing :

  • Analyze inventory data to support stocking strategies, demand forecasts, and sourcing alignment.
  • Develop and maintain short, mid, and long-term inventory forecasts incorporating input from planning, sales, marketing, and finance teams.
  • Identify excess, obsolete, or underperforming inventory and recommend action plans including SKU rationalization and lifecycle management.
  • Build and present models that compare inventory levels against forecasted demand and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Support the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process with scenario planning, reporting, and inventory trade-off analysis.
  • Run and distribute regular inventory performance reports; identify gaps and anomalies to support data integrity and proactive decision-making.
  • Implement and support UniFirst’s Stockroom Management System (SMS) at new and existing field locations.
  • Train field management and staff on inventory best practices, compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Audit physical inventory and monitor plant stockroom performance to ensure adherence to corporate guidelines.
  • Assist with the integration of acquisitions and the conversion of new locations into UniFirst inventory systems and processes.
  • Collaborate with Sourcing, Finance, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain Planning to align inventory activities with broader business goals.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, and National Accounts to incorporate forecast insights into inventory decision-making.
  • Work with Financial Analysts to support quarterly Excess & Obsolescence (E&O) reporting and analysis.
  • Any other tasks or activities requested by the Manager or Supervisor

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field required..
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant inventory management, planning, or operations experience required.
  • Experience in consumer goods, medical supplies, safety products, or industrial supply is preferred
  • Experience with field training or operations support is a plus.
  • Sage X3 ERP experience
  • Customer service experience
  • Strong data analysis and modeling skills using Excel and/or BI tools (Tableau, Power BI).
  • Experience with inventory/order processing systems and ERP software (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
  • Knowledge of inventory planning principles, forecasting, and stockroom operations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to train and collaborate across levels.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions in time-sensitive environments.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% to support field operations and stockroom implementations.
  • Ability to lift and carry 60 lbs.
