Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of related experience.
• Knowledge of safe storage and handling for various chemicals and materials.
• Knowledge of proper shipping procedures for transportation of dangerous goods.
• Forklift operations preferred.
• Proficient written and oral communication skills.
• Strong computer skills, able to read, write, and comprehend written documents.
• Ability to function in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic and interpret figures and graphs.
• Microsoft Office proficiency preferred.
• Must pass a government background investigation when required.
• Valid motor vehicle operator's license.
• Forklift certification preferred.
• 40-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determines the method of shipment and prepares shipping documents.
• Receives merchandise, checks deliveries, and assists with unloading.
• Inspects incoming goods and records shortages or damage.
• Accepts or returns merchandise per procedures.
• Calculates prices and affixes bar codes and tags.
• Organizes distribution and shipping of goods and hazardous items.
• Verifies documents and routes goods to storage areas.
• Handles customer pick-up and delivers goods and hazardous items.
• May operate forklift or other equipment for loading/unloading.
• Maintains internal record-keeping systems.
• Coordinates with transport companies and suppliers for non-conforming merchandise.
• Assembles containers and packs goods for shipment.
• Takes inventory and maintains storage areas.
• Inspects storage facilities for deterioration or risk.
