Job summary

Marc Jacobs seeks an Accounting Manager – Inventory and Gross Margin to join the Accounting team at its New York City (SoHo) headquarters. The role oversees inventory valuation, reserves, costing, and related balance sheet accounts under US GAAP, aligning with revenue recognition and gross margin analysis.

You will mentor staff and collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, Merchandising, and FP&A. The position reports to the Accounting leadership and focuses on strengthening internal controls,

Qualifications

• BS in Accounting and strong knowledge of US GAAP.
• 4+ years work experience.
• Experience with inventory-intensive businesses such as retail or consumer products.
• Audit experience (Big 4) preferred.
• ERP systems experience

Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end close for inventory accounting.
• Own inventory accounting under U.S. GAAP including valuations and reserves.
• Support revenue accounting and gross margin reporting.
• Review journal entries and reconciliations prepared by staff.
• Provide guidance and coaching to accounting team members.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve inventory and margin issues.
• Develop internal controls and process improvements related to inventory and revenue accounting.
