Job summary

Marc Jacobs International seeks an Accounting Manager – Inventory and Gross Margin to join the NYC-based Accounting team. The role leads inventory valuation, reserves, costing, and related balance sheet accounts under US GAAP, while supporting revenue recognition and gross margin analysis.

The position collaborates with Operations, Supply Chain, Merchandising, and FP&A to improve controls and processes, and may supervise one accounting team member. Strong ERP experience preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in Accounting and strong knowledge of US GAAP.
• 4+ years of work experience.
• Experience with inventory-intensive businesses such as wholesale, retail, consumer products, manufacturing, or distribution; costing knowledge preferred.
• Audit experience (Big 4) preferred.
• ERP systems experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end close for inventory accounting for Retail and Wholesale.
• Prepare and review inventory reconciliations and analyze significant fluctuations.
• Own inventory accounting under U.S. GAAP, including inventory valuation, reserves, and related policies.
• Support revenue accounting and gross margin reporting by ensuring complete and accurate sales, cost of sales, and related financials.
• Review journal entries and account reconciliations for accuracy and timeliness.
• Provide guidance to accounting staff and mentor team members.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve inventory and margin-related issues and improve processes.
• Monitor costing processes and system interfaces to ensure data integrity.
