Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The Inventory Coordinator is responsible for the administration of the technology asset management system. This position gathers, maintains, and tracks inventory information, develops procedures to ensure the ongoing accuracy of asset data, researches technology purchasing options, coordinates with faculty and staff to replace and deploy new equipment, and provides inventory reporting to support purchasing and replacement decisions.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The employee in this position will have the following primary job functions:



  • Serve as the primary administrator of the technology asset management system.

  • Receive and process new technology purchases, collect system information and populate in the asset management system, and tag all equipment with SBTS asset tags.

  • Track names, serial numbers, user assignments, equipment locations, warranty information, and lifecycle status for all technology equipment.

  • Develop and implement procedures to regularly audit the asset management system to ensure ongoing accuracy of information.

  • Develop and track processes for ensuring proper disposal of retired technology equipment, including data removal, spare component harvesting, and equipment recycling.

  • Coordinate with faculty and staff to schedule equipment replacements and deployments based on life cycles and staffing changes.

  • Provide inventory life cycle information to faculty and staff.

  • Research potential technology purchase options and make recommendations based upon specifications and pricing.

  • Provide regular reports on warranty expirations, inventory utilization, and equipment pricing trends.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate in this position will have experience in project coordination, record-keeping, inventory management, and/or administration. This person must be detail-oriented and able to complete objectives through personal initiative. The successful candidate must also be able to communicate with faculty and staff in a friendly and professional manner. Experience in information technology, such as helpdesk support, is a plus.


SUPERVISION

The person in this position will supervise no one.


The person in this position will report to the Associate Director of Technology Support.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

The person in this position will work in a typical office environment.
