The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring materials, equipment, tools, and supplies are properly received, tracked, stored, and issued. This position plays an important role in supporting warehouse and field operations by ensuring inventory is available when needed and that inventory levels within the system accurately reflect physical stock.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain accurate inventory records for materials, equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Receive incoming materials and verify quantities against purchase orders, packing slips, and delivery documentation.
- Accurately enter inventory receipts, transfers, adjustments, and issues into the inventory management system.
- Perform regular cycle counts and physical inventory counts to verify inventory accuracy.
- Identify, research, and resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Monitor inventory levels and identify low-stock, excess, or obsolete materials.
- Coordinate with Purchasing to support appropriate inventory levels and replenishment needs.
- Track materials issued to projects, service technicians, or other departments.
- Process inventory transfers between warehouse locations, projects, and departments.
- Maintain proper labeling, organization, and storage of inventory.
- Assist with the development and implementation of inventory control procedures and best practices.
- Prepare inventory reports and provide information regarding inventory levels, discrepancies, and usage.
- Work closely with Purchasing, Warehouse, Operations, and Project teams to ensure materials are available when needed.
- Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, organization, and efficiency.
- Ensure inventory transactions are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and inventory environment.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or additional education in supply chain, logistics, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, purchasing, logistics, or a related position preferred.
- Experience working with inventory management, ERP, or warehouse management systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic computer applications.
- Experience in the construction, HVAC, mechanical, or building trades industry is preferred.
- Familiarity with construction materials, tools, equipment, and parts is a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment as required; forklift certification may be required or provided by the company.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position primarily works in a warehouse environment and may occasionally require interaction with active construction or service operations. The employee may be exposed to varying temperatures, noise, dust, and other conditions typical of warehouse and construction environments.
