Overview

The Inventory Control Supervisor at UNIS is a frontline operations leader responsible for safeguarding inventory accuracy, availability, and data integrity across a technology-driven logistics network. Based in Roanoke, TX, this role sits at the intersection of warehouse operations, supply chain planning, and systems management, ensuring that physical stock and system records align to support reliable transportation, real-time visibility, and AI-enabled decision-making. The Inventory Control Supervisor translates business demand and client requirements into disciplined inventory practices, leads the inventory control team in executing cycle counts and audits, and partners with cross-functional stakeholders (warehouse leadership, logistics, transportation, IT, and planning) to continuously improve processes and automation. Success in this role is measured by reduced inventory discrepancies, higher fulfillment reliability, and the ability to scale operations without sacrificing control or compliance.

Responsibilities

• 1. Lead daily inventory control operations to ensure that all inbound, outbound, and internal movements are accurately recorded and reconciled in the inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, WMS), maintaining high inventory accuracy and data integrity across all divisions.
• 2. Plan, coordinate, and assist in executing daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts and full physical inventory counts in partnership with the Inventory Controller and warehouse teams; analyze variances, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• 3. Monitor inventory-related system transactions and reports, proactively inspect and troubleshoot electronic discrepancies, data errors, and process breakdowns, escalating complex issues to IT or relevant stakeholders and ensuring timely resolution to avoid service or fulfillment impact.
• 4. Design, document, and refine inventory procedures and workflows, with a strong focus on automation and best practices (e.g., Lean, JIT), to increase efficiency, standardization, and scalability; lead or support implementation of new tools, system enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• 5. Balance and optimize inventory levels across divisions and locations through system-based transfers and adjustments; collaborate with supply chain, logistics, and planning teams to support accurate forecasting, capacity planning, and customer service commitments.

Minimum Requirements

• 1. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required; post-secondary education or relevant technical training in logistics, supply chain, or business operations is strongly beneficial for readiness in this role.
• 2. Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in a supply chain, logistics, or warehouse environment, with direct exposure to inventory control, stock reconciliation, or related operational processes.
• 3. Demonstrated proficiency using inventory management or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, WMS) to record transactions, run reports, and troubleshoot basic system issues within a fast-paced operational setting.
• 4. Ability to analyze operational and inventory data using tools such as Microsoft Excel (including formulas, pivots, and data validation), and to interpret findings into clear, actionable steps for resolving discrepancies.
• 5. Strong organizational and time management capabilities, with proven experience managing multiple inventory tasks, audits, and deadlines while maintaining consistent accuracy and attention to detail.

Preferred Requirements

• 1. Associate degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field, or formal vocational training focused on warehouse and inventory operations.
• 2. Previous experience in a supervisory or lead role within inventory control, warehouse operations, or logistics, including responsibility for directing staff, coordinating activities, and enforcing standard operating procedures.
• 3. Advanced proficiency with inventory and ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, dedicated WMS) and comfort working with integrated technology tools, including AI-enabled or automated systems used for inventory optimization and reporting.
• 4. Experience applying process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) to streamline inventory workflows, reduce waste, and strengthen controls, with measurable impact on accuracy and efficiency.
