Description
The Inventory Control Specialist ensures safe and efficient inventory management including but not limited to the following functions: monitoring inventory levels, stock movements, cycle counts, and work order kitting to support the manufacturing operations.
The role relies on an ability to work collaboratively with the production team, ensuring timely delivery of materials and managing inventory levels to minimize stock-outs and excess inventory. Keys to success include communication and organizational skills, along with thoroughness and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain inventory control systems to manage stock levels, monitoring inventory movements in compliance with regulatory requirements and guidelines.
- Collaborate with the production team, understanding their inventory needs and ensuring timely delivery of materials, reducing lead times and production line downtime.
- Continuously monitor inventory levels, minimizing stock-outs and excess inventory as well as reducing inventory carrying costs and obsolete stock.
- Manage purchase activities for MRO, R&D and custom 3D printed parts.
- Pick and kit materials for use in production based on work order/ bill of materials.
- Monitor and report on status of kitting and picking activity, including shortages and inventory issues.
- Prepare and analyze inventory reports to identify trends and opportunities for improvement; implement strategies to improve processes where appropriate.
- Perform inventory cycle counts, researching any variances and authorizing appropriate inventory adjustments.
- Assist in the research and resolution of issues, queries or challenges arising from part shortages and count discrepancies.
- Perform ERP material transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Participate in continuous improvement processes to maintain best-in-class Supply Chain systems.
- Ensure procedures and processes are consistently and accurately followed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma required; some college desirable.
- 2+ years of experience in inventory management, purchasing, or supply chain operations.
- Medical device manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with some knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with ERP software desired, Netsuite preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Highly organized, able to prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.
