Inventory Control Specialist Job Description

The Inventory Control Specialist orders and delivers supplies and maintains inventory control in assigned areas. Responsibilities include communicating inventory issues to the Supervisor and relevant departments, entering transactions into the computer system, managing supply locations, updating par papers, labeling shelves, and handling product evaluations and recalls.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

1. Order and control inventory in assigned areas.
2. Ensure adequate stock turnover.
3. Enter issues, returns, and credits into the system for supplies and linen.
4. Expedite low or out-of-stock items with Purchasing and communicate status to relevant parties.
5. Update Par Stock papers.
6. Maintain proper shelf labels.
7. File requisitions and reports systematically.
8. Handle linen according to hospital policy and infection control standards.
9. Maintain a neat and orderly area per EOC, DOH, JCACHO standards.
10. Assist with recalls, evaluations, and product conversions.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

Standing up to 6 hours, walking up to 6 hours daily, sitting up to 2 hours, frequent use of fingers and hands, lifting up to 50 pounds, and pushing/pulling carts up to 500 pounds. Must be able to stoop, bend, reach, and have normal hearing and vision.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent; exceptions for high school students.
• Accuracy with figures; prior computer experience preferred.
• Inventory control experience is a plus.
