Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an Inventory Control Manager to oversee inventory accuracy, material flow, cycle counts, and control procedures across warehouse and production operations. You will lead a team, drive continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with safety and audit requirements.

You will partner with purchasing, production, warehouse, shipping, receiving, and finance to optimize material planning and reporting; supervise staff, implement corrective actions, and maintain accurate stock

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years in inventory control or related roles.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP and warehouse systems.
  • Strong Excel and inventory reporting skills.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to analyze data and resolve discrepancies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain inventory control procedures to ensure accurate stock levels.
  • Lead daily inventory activities including cycle counts, audits, reconciliations, and investigations.
  • Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages and overstock.
  • Partner with purchasing, production, warehouse, shipping, receiving, and finance teams.
  • Use ERP, WMS, and reporting data to track movement and identify trends.
  • Analyze variances, root causes, and process gaps; implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare and communicate inventory reports including stock levels and KPIs.
  • Maintain organized storage, labeling, and efficient material flow.
  • Train and supervise inventory control team members.
  • Support continuous improvement for accuracy and cost control.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, safety standards, audits, and regulations.

Inventory Control Manager

Position Summary: The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for overseeing inventory accuracy, material flow, cycle count processes, and inventory control procedures across warehouse and production operations. This role ensures that materials, components, and finished goods are properly received, stored, tracked, reconciled, and available to support production schedules, customer demand, and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain inventory control procedures to ensure accurate stock levels and reliable material records.
  • Lead daily inventory activities, including cycle counts, physical inventory audits, reconciliations, adjustments, and discrepancy investigations.
  • Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages, overstock conditions, production delays, and excess or obsolete inventory.
  • Partner with purchasing, production, warehouse, shipping, receiving, and finance teams to support efficient material planning and inventory accuracy.
  • Use inventory management systems, warehouse management systems, ERP tools, and reporting data to track inventory movement and identify trends.
  • Analyze inventory variances, root causes, transaction errors, and process gaps; implement corrective actions to reduce repeat issues.
  • Prepare and communicate inventory reports, including stock levels, cycle count accuracy, adjustments, aging inventory, and key performance indicators.
  • Maintain organized storage practices, proper labeling, accurate locations, and efficient material flow throughout the facility.
  • Train, coach, and supervise inventory control team members to ensure consistent execution of standard processes.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory accuracy, cost control, waste reduction, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, audit requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines.
  • Manage processes for damaged, obsolete, returned, or excess materials in coordination with appropriate departments.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, business, operations management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, materials management, production planning, or supply chain operations.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of inventory control practices, cycle counting, material transactions, stock rotation, and warehouse processes.
  • Experience using ERP, MRP, warehouse management, or inventory tracking systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and inventory reporting tools.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify root causes, resolve discrepancies, and make sound business decisions.
  • Strong communication, organization, follow-up, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
