Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a details-driven Inventory Controller to maintain accurate hardgoods stock and drive reporting accuracy. The role collaborates with regional teams to align on financial goals and controls, performing cycle counts, variance analyses, and adjustments while supporting promotions and new product initiatives.

Strong SAP knowledge and proficiency in Excel/Word are essential, with a focus on process design, SOPs, and cross-functional communication.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business, Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with inventory management and analytics is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SAP and MS Office tools is required or advantageous.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with good time management.
  • Ability to work in a production environment and handle variable conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with region’s hardgoods inventory policies and procedures.
  • Advise on accurate inventory management and reporting to meet financial goals.
  • Coordinate with divisional and regional teams for controls and targets.
  • Maintain cycle-count timelines and perform variance analyses.
  • Collaborate with plants and branches on hardgoods cycle counts.
  • Review and approve inventory adjustments from physical counts.
  • Investigate root causes of variances with site personnel.
  • Support inventory programs, promotions, new products, and vendor initiatives.
  • Assist Accounts Payable and Purchasing with invoice issues.
  • Provide branch-based reporting on inventory turns and adjustments.
  • Help reduce day supply, slow-moving inventory, and reserves.
  • Contribute to training Associates on hardgoods inventory processes.

Job description

  • Support compliance with the region’s hardgoods inventory policies and procedures
  • Advance accurate and timely inventory management and reporting
  • Coordinate with divisional and regional teams to achieve financial goals and monitor operational controls
  • Maintain inventory cycle-count timelines and perform variance analyses and reporting
  • Partner with, support, and guide hardgoods cycle counts at plants and branches
  • Review and approve inventory adjustments resulting from physical-count variances against perpetual inventory records
  • Collaborate with plant and branch personnel to determine root causes of inventory variances
  • Support bolt‑on programs, inventory promotions, new products, and vendor/Radnor-sponsored inventory programs
  • Assist Accounts Payable and Corporate Purchasing by investigating and resolving invoice challenges
  • Provide branch‑based reporting on inventory turns, inactive inventory, adjustments, and other relevant metrics
  • Help reduce Hardgoods Day Supply, slow‑moving/obsolete inventory, and inventory reserve expense
  • Assist with training and onboarding Associates on hardgoods inventory processes
  • Support acquisition‑related activities, including hardgoods part‑number conversion, inventory validation and verification, and opening‑balance reserve establishment
  • Support branch closure activities
  • Assist with wall‑to‑wall inventory counts and branch remerchandising as needed
  • Help establish Corporate purchasing‑system settings, including freezes/guarantees and minimum/maximum stocking levels
  • Develop and implement process changes, solutions, SOPs, and policies to reduce or eliminate inventory variances
  • Coordinate department workflow to meet goals and milestones
  • Respond to field inquiries related to inventory functions and departmental operations
  • Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
  • Degree in Business, Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Ideally, 3 years of inventory management experience
  • Inventory analysis experience
  • SAP working knowledge
  • Experience or background in bulk/gas industry analysis or analytical finance
  • Google Office and MS Office proficiency, including Excel and Word
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Process design and high attention to detail
  • Organization and time management with competing priorities
  • Verbal and written communication, listening, and teamwork
  • Diplomacy and thoughtful communication when navigating challenges and building alignment
  • Physical ability for extended sitting, occasional walking, driving, computer/phone use, and working in extreme temperatures (-10°F to 100°F+), production environments, or near machinery
  • Commitment to working safely and fostering a safe and supportive working environment
