Job summary

Legence is seeking an Inventory Control Coordinator for our Sheet Metal team in San Jose. This onsite role focuses on maintaining accurate material levels and overseeing receipt, storage, and distribution of sheet metal materials and shop supplies.

You will work with Foremen, Purchasing, and Fabrication to ensure materials meet production schedules while complying with safety and union rules. Requires 3+ years in inventory control and CAD/BOM reading ability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 years in inventory control or warehouse ops.
• Experience in sheet metal fabrication, HVAC, or manufacturing.
• Read bills of materials, drawings, and purchase orders.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and inventory systems.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to operate forklifts safely.

Responsibilities

• Receive and verify materials against POs and packing slips.
• Inspect deliveries for quantity, quality, and damage.
• Label, store, and track inventory in designated locations.
• Maintain accurate inventory of stock, coils, ductwork, and shop consumables.
• Perform daily cycle counts and monthly/annual inventories.
• Coordinate material issuance to fabrication per production schedules.
• Communicate shortages and lead times to shop leadership.
• Maintain organized storage areas and support lean initiatives.
• Follow safety policies and OSHA-compliant handling practices.
