Job Purpose And Summary

This job requires the Inventory Control Forklift Operator to perform the following tasks:

  • Check/verify all product labels, names, and quantities being staged for production.
  • Pre-stage materials in FIFO order and keep track of lot numbers for all items.
  • Document all supplies taken to the production area, ensuring FIFO order, and supply only what is needed.
  • Move product from trucks & rails to appropriate warehouse/locations, noting proper storage/temperature conditions and allergen/organic food controls.
  • Work well with team members to accurately place items in designated storage areas in the production area as needed.
  • Return all staged ingredients and packaging to the warehouse once the production job is completed.
  • Cycle count ingredients as needed to ensure correct quantities and lot numbers.
  • Use handheld scanners to complete inventory moves.
  • Keep yard in audit-ready standards by sorting and organizing damaged pallets, used plastics, and metal drums; maintain a neat and clean area.
  • Verify inventory computations by comparing physical counts to system counts, investigating discrepancies, and adjusting inventory post-approval.
  • Properly report and handle damaged products through IARs & ICD processes.
  • Support other positions within the Inventory Control Group as needed.
  • Assist in developing corrective actions for inventory discrepancies and missing inventory.
  • Participate in semiannual physical inventories.
  • Support compliance with all Food Safety and Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
Duties And Responsibilities

Percentage of time spent on each item:

  • 40% unloading and loading rail cars using FIFO, inspecting and securing trucks.
  • 30% staging and organizing bulk items and tomatoes for production, maintaining FIFO.
  • 10% operating forklift safely and efficiently, maintaining daily checklist.
  • 15% yard cleaning and organization.
  • 5% supporting Receiving and Line Supply Teams.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; willingness to pursue further education.

Experience: Some related work experience helpful; exposure to manufacturing environment and forklift experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities: Teamwork, respect, professionalism, integrity, positive attitude, forklift certification, good communication, organizational skills, ability to use scales and formulas, computer proficiency, physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and adherence to safety guidelines.

Work Environment: Factory and outside, cold/wet conditions, forklift traffic, safety-sensitive position.

Attendance: Punctuality, regular attendance, overtime availability, presence required during first 7 days of each month for financial reporting.
