JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Office of Physical Plant (https://www.opp.psu.edu/) at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking an Inventory Control and Distribution Specialist to join the team.

The Inventory Control and Distribution Specialist is vital to maintaining the Supply Chain Function of the Office of Physical Plant at Penn State. This position involves identifying materials and parts for various facilities and assets across the campuses. The specialist acts as a buyer, sourcing materials, assisting with order placement, and preparing data for RFP and RFQ processes, working closely with Central Procurement to ensure needs are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and source materials and parts for different facilities and assets.
  • Assist Technicians, Engineers, and Administrators with order placement.
  • Prepare data for RFP and RFQ processes, including identifying critical specifications.
  • Collaborate with Central Procurement to process new agreements.
  • Facilitate the Primary Vending Program to lower material costs by working with fewer vendors committed to providing the most needed materials.
  • Coordinate with departments such as marketing, IT, and customer service.
  • Determine the right products, quality, lead times, and stock vs. non-stock items.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Clearances Required:

  • Must operate a motor vehicle; a valid driver’s license and motor vehicle records check are required.
  • Successful completion of a credit history check is required due to financial responsibilities.
