Job summary

Porter Pipe & Supply is seeking an Inventory Associate for 1st shift in Indianapolis, IN. You will help maintain accurate inventory levels, organize storage locations, and support daily warehouse operations with a focus on quality and teamwork.

The role requires basic inventory systems familiarity, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work well in a team. Forklift experience and 5S knowledge are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.

• Keep inventory areas clean and organized per 5S standards.
• Support Inventory team with general tasks and projects.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations.

About Us

As a member of our Inventory Team, you’ll play a pivotal role in maintaining our culture of customer service excellence. Our Inventory Associates are required to have experience with inventory management and strong attention to detail to support our operations. This is not a typical Warehouse Associate role. What You’ll Bring

• Prior experience in inventory management or a related field is a plus.
• Forklift experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of 5S methodology is a plus.
• High school diploma or GED.

• Basic computer skills, including familiarity with inventory management systems.
• Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Demonstrated basic mathematical aptitude.
• Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and manage time effectively.
• Excellent communication skills in English, particularly regarding essential functions.

What You’ll Do

• Participate in daily cycle counting to ensure inventory accuracy.

• Maintain and update inventory locations using 5S methodology to ensure items are correctly placed and tracked.
• Create new storage locations and label racking as needed.
• Assist with the organization and cleanliness of inventory storage areas, adhering to 5S principles.
• Support the Inventory team with general tasks and projects as required.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth inventory operations.
• Follow all company policies and procedures related to inventory management and safety.
• Foster continuous improvement and innovation.
• Adhere to all Company safety rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
