Job summary

Porter Pipe & Supply in Indianapolis, IN is hiring an Inventory Associate, 1st Shift to join our inventory team and help maintain accurate stock levels. The role emphasizes cycle counting, location tracking, and adherence to 5S principles to support efficient operations.

You will contribute to a culture of teamwork and customer service excellence while following safety guidelines and company policies. The position requires basic computer skills and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in inventory management or a related field is a plus.
• Forklift experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of 5S methodology is a plus.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Participate in daily cycle counting to ensure inventory accuracy.
• Perform frequent stock checks to verify quantities and locations of inventory items.
• Maintain and update inventory locations using 5S methodology to ensure items are correctly placed and tracked.
• Create new storage locations and label racking as needed.
• Assist with the organization and cleanliness of inventory storage areas, adhering to 5S principles.
• Support the Inventory team with general tasks and projects as required.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth inventory operations.
• Follow all company policies and procedures related to inventory management and safety.
• Foster continuous improvement and innovation.
• Adhere to all Company safety rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

About Us

As a member of our Inventory Team, you’ll play a pivotal role in maintaining our culture of customer service excellence. Our Inventory Associates are required to have experience with inventory management and strong attention to detail to support our operations. This is not a typical Warehouse Associate role.

What You’ll Bring
